Care Plus Tick Test Kit The Care Plus Tick Test Kit is a revolutionary new product that enables you to test a tick that has bitten you for the presence of the Borrelia bacteria that causes Lyme disease. The tick must be removed from your body first using a tick removing tool but it is only the tick that is tested - there is no need for you to provide a blood sample. To use, the tick is mashed up in the test tube provided with a small amount of liquid and then 2 or 3 drops should be applied to the test cassette with the pipette provided. The test cassette works in much the same way as a home pregnancy test kit - a red line will appear in the window if the test is positive. (The Care Plus Tick Test is an immunochromatographic test and serves as direct proof of Borrelia antigens in the tick. When the test material is added to the test cassette it flows over the test lines through capillary action and if there are any Borrelia antigens present they interact with the immobilized reagents and a red line appears, indicating a positive result. If the test material doesn't contain any Borrelia then the Borrelia-antigens-antibody complex isn't created and the red line doesn't appear, indicating a negative result. For the test to be valid a coloured stripe should always appear in the control area to confirm that the material has spread thoughout the test area by capillary action.)
