One of the causes of Motion Sickness is sensory conflict between your eyes and the semi-circular canals inside your ear that detect motion. When you're sitting in the back of a car, for example, your eyes tell you that you are stationary - the seat in front of you and the interior of the car is moving at the same rate as you so it appears to be stationary relative to you - but the semi-circular canals inside your ears detect the acceleration of the car and every bump, twist and turn of the road.
