Thiamine

Thiamine - Vitamin B1 Thiamine (Vitamin B1) is said to have insect repellent properties if taken in large doses. People used to take it orally in tablet form, but nowadays it's more usual for it to be absorbed through the skin via a patch. Most independent studies seem to conclude that it doesn't actually work very well as an insect repellent so it should never be relied upon when there is any risk of catching an insect bourne disease, but in less hazardous environments if it works for you then that's just fine!
Natural Patches Insect Repellent Patch

The Natural Patches Insect Repellent Patch provides a very convenient form of protection from biting insects, without the fuss or bother and mess or smell of sprays and creams. To use, simply apply a patch to your body two hours or more before protection is needed. Each patch can then be worn continually for 36 hours, before being replaced by another if further protection is required.

Each patch contains 75mg of Thiamine (Vitamin B1) which is absorbed slowly through the skin. Your body only needs about 2 mg of Thiamin per day as part of a healthy diet, so the excess Thiamin is passed harmlessly through your urine, your breath and your skin. Thiamine is odourless to humans but mosquitoes and other biting insects hate it, and hence they will look for alternative sources of food, leaving you bite free. The patches don't contain DEET and they are said to be suitable for use with children from the age of two.

Each packet contains 5 patches - enough for up to 7 days protection.
