The History of Cocoon
The Cocoon story began in 1989 when the Cocoon founder Josef Sturm nearly got swept away in a river while travelling in Bali. What was he doing? – simply washing his unwieldy, self sewn cotton sleeping bag in the river.
From that moment on, Josef was dedicated to developing well designed, lightweight, functional products aimed at adventurers, travelers and mountaineers all over the world.
‘We want travellers to get a good night’s sleep, ready for new adventures the next morning…’ – a simple philosophy driving quality product design.
His company is now dedicated to providing exactly that for today’s traveller with a keen focus on product design and development, using high quality fabrics to provide the perfect mix of performance and comfort.
The Cocoon Mission
COCOON has a mission: to help travellers feel comfortable and get a good night’s sleep to be ready for new adventures the next morning. A wide range of COCOON TravelSheets and MummyLiners provides a hygienic sleep environment in hotels, youth hostel, alpine huts and tents. In addition, high quality travel pillows and blankets offer even more comfort.
The exquisite silk-cotton travel nightwear feels soft on your skin and microfiber bathrobes accompany you to the bathroom, where you can dry yourself with one of COCOON’s ultra-lightweight, extremely absorbent and fast drying microfiber towels.
It is our goal to provide sleep sacks, sleeping bag liners and travel accessories to make sleeping an enjoyable part of your travel experience!
Of course, the social and ecological impacts of the production of COCOON products also matter to us. COCOON has been a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) since 2012. They monitor the working conditions in the factories producing for us. And, of course, all COCOON products are tested for harmful substances on a regular basis.
Insect Shield
Insect Shield is a revolutionary new defence in the battle against bugs. In the COCOON INSECT SHIELD LINE, Insect Shield Repellent Technology converts liners, blankets, travel nightwear and mosquito nets into long-lasting, effective and convenient insect protection.
Tightly bonded to the fabric of your COCOON TravelSheet™ or TRAVELER’S TREE Travel Pyjama, Insect Shield is near your skin but not on your skin. It is invisible, odorless and does not change the feel of the fabric.
Insect Shield repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, fleas, chiggers, and midges, many of which can carry dangerous diseases such as malaria or Lyme disease.
INSECT SHIELD ADVANTAGES:
Effective: Repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, fleas, chiggers, and midges.
Built-in: The active ingredient is a man-made version of a natural insect repellent found in certain types of chrysanthemum plants.
Long-lasting: Apparel retains effective repellency through 70 washings. Gear repellency lasts through six months of constant exposure to sun and rain.
Convenient: Invisible, odourless insect protection that does not have to be re-applied.
Tested: Registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it can be used by pregnant or nursing women and children of any age.
