Why is Mosi-Guard Natural® a unique insect repellent?

Mosi-Guard Natural is long lasting & effective, DEET free and kind to skin, repels a range of insects, is family friendly and approved by scientists, plant based, manufactured in the UK and ethically produced. Mosi-Guard Natural repels a whole range of insects such as Mosquitoes, Midges, Ticks, Sand Flies, Land Leeches, Black Flies and Stable Flies. Mosi-Guard Natural provides up to 8 hours of protection (10+ hours if using Mosi-Guard Natural Extra Spray), performing just as well as DEET based alternatives. Mosi-Guard Natural’s active ingredient is Citriodiol, which comes from the sustainably produced essential oil from the eucalyptus citriodora tree.

DEET vs. DEET Free

The main difference is the active ingredient. The active ingredient in Mosi-Guard Natural is Citriodiol. Unlike DEET which is a synthetic chemical, Citriodiol is plant based, also known as Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus. DEET is rapidly absorbed through the skin, whereas very little Mosi-Guard Natural is absorbed through the skin making it suitable for children as young as 6 months old.

Is Mosi-Guard Natural® as effective as DEET based repellents?

Citriodiol is just as effective as DEET, giving 6-8 hours Complete Protection Time, compared to 6-10 hours of Complete Protection Time from DEET based products. Also, Mosi-Guard Natural Extra Spray provides 10+ hours of Complete Protection Time.

Does Mosi-Guard Natural® contain any allergens?

The allergens, citronellol (ca. 7%), linalool (<0.5%) and limonene (<0.5%) are all present in Eucalyptus Citriodora Oil. Consumers with heightened sensitivity to these allergens should avoid using Mosi-Guard Natural.

Is Mosi-Guard Natural® safe for plants, animals and our planet?

Unlike synthetic substances which may upset the balance of our ecosystem, the active substance in Mosi-Guard is plant based and will not upset the Earth’s natural balance. Citriodiol is also biodegradable, which is important to the well being of plants & animals. Mosi-Guard has never been tested on animals, therefore the product is not recommended for use on pets or other animals.

How often should I reapply Mosi-Guard Natural®?

Like other insect repellents, the performance of Mosi-Guard Natural will vary depending on your activity levels and perspiration. Reapply Mosi-Guard Natural every 6 to 8 hours if you are using the Spray, Stick or Roll-on. The Mosi-Guard Natural Spray Extra lasts for 10+ hours. It is also advised to reapply after swimming. Apply Mosi-Guard Natural on top of your sunscreen.
