Over the past 20 years, Thermacell’s mission has always been to liberate people who love the outdoors from the harmful effects of insects. So they created portable and standing units to reduce the need for lotions, candles and traps.
How do they work?
Thermacell makes devices that work like diffusers, using heat to vaporize a small amount of insecticide into the air to create a bug-free zone. The active chemical is either metofluthrin or allethrin, which in numerous studies have proved to be effective spatial repellents for mosquitoes. They have both undergone thorough vetting by the Environmental Protection Agency and other regulatory agencies around the world and are deemed safe for this intended use.
Fuel-Powered Thermacell Mosquito Repellent devices repel mosquitoes by creating an invisible 15-foot mosquito protection zone. Thermacell’s zone repellent technology eliminates the need for messy lotions or sprays, stopping mosquitoes before they can bother or bite you.

Thermacell MR300 Portable Mosquito & Midge Protector – Available in 2 colours. This unit is portable and great for camping, fishing, hunting etc. Again, no cords or batteries and provides a 15-foot zone (20 square metres) of mosquito and midge protection.
Each unit includes: One repeller, one 12-hour fuel cartridge, and three 4-hour repellent mats.
Use It better…
Don’t expect your Thermacell to work the moment you turn it on. You need to turn it on about 10 to 15 minutes before you plan to be outside, to allow the repellent to “saturate” an area.
It won’t work in windy conditions. Thermacells are all about building up an area of protection around the emitter, so it just takes one good breeze to blow it all away.
Also, be careful when opening the repellent replacement cartridges. Some users have accidentally broken the cartridge wicks when they didn’t pull the cap straight up—and if the wick breaks, the cartridge no longer works.
Can I use them inside?
In short, no. It’s not recommended for use inside or around uncovered food.

Yes, refill catridges and mats are available to purchase.
