Insect Repellent

Insect repellents can be divided into three main categories: DEET, Saltidin and Citriodiol – a natural insect repellent derived from Lemon Eucalyptus Oil.

Insect Repellent is available as – DEET, Alternatives to DEET, and Natural repellents such as Citronella. DEET is the most effective insect repellent and always recommended when visiting countries where the risk of disease is high.

  DEET Insect Repellent

  DEET is generally recognised as the most effective insect repellent so it should be used where insect bites pose a real and present danger to health.

  Saltidin Insect Repellent

  Saltidin was developed as an alternative to DEET and it's often preferred where bites are less dangerous as it can be more pleasant to use.

  Natural Insect Repellent

  The best natural insect repellent is Citriodiol and it's derived from Lemon Eucalyptus. Citronella is also a deterrent but it shouldn't be relied upon.

  Children & Sensitive Skin

  People sometimes worry about using some insect repellents for children but there are milder products available that strike a good balance between the level of protection and concern.

  Insect repelling wrist bands, patches and wipes are an ideal alternative if you don't want to spray!

  Most people quickly see the need for insect repellents when they're out and about - but you often need them when you're inside as well.

  Citronella Candles, Diffusers & Mosi Coils

  Citronella has been used in candles for many years and whilst it should never be relied on in high risk areas it can be quite helpful in some situations.

  Permethrin

  Permethrin treatments provide long-lasting protection against biting insects when sprayed on textiles, e.g. clothing, tents, sun shelters and rucksacks.
