DEET (diethyl-m-toluamide) is generally recognised as the most effective agent for keeping bugs at bay. It is ideal for use in a concentrated form in serious, disease infested areas, but it can also be used on a regular basis at a lower concentration in less challenging environments.

Suitable for use in Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand

(May also be suitable for some parts of Mexico, Argentina, Chile, the Caribbean Islands, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and South Africa - but if in doubt check with your doctor or tour operator.)

Insect repellents containing up to 35% DEET will generally do the trick in all but the most hostile of conditions and they are usually suitable for use by all the family from the age of 2. However, if you're travelling or working in territories where the risk of being bitten could seriously threaten your health then a higher concentration of DEET may be needed.

Design Go Travel Insect Repellent Wipes are easy to carry and convenient to use. There's no bottle to worry about, and no lid to come off in your bag whilst you're carrying it or when little fingers are fiddling. Ultrathon Insect Repellent Spray (25% DEET)

Ultrathon Insect Repellent Spray was developed by 3M to give up to 8 hours protection against mosquitoes and other insects in a splash and sweat resistant formula.

It contains 25% DEET in a special base that allows it to be released onto the skin's surface more slowly than most other products where the DEET is simply mixed in a water or alcohol base. This provides the benefits of longer-lasting protection without requiring the use of higher concentrations of DEET. It also reduces the number of times that re-application is required.

Ultrathon Insect Repellent is supplied here as a 125ml aerosol spray.

Usage guidelines:

- normal conditions - one application can provide protection for up to 8 hours - typically, one can should provide protection for one person for about a week.

- humid conditions or strenuous exercise (lots of sweating!) - Ultrathon works very well in these conditions, but it may still be necessary to reapply it more frequently.

Ben's 30 Standard Strength Insect Repellent is a water-based product containing 30% DEET and it can provide up to 8 hours protection against mosquitoes, midges, ticks and all other types of biting insects.

Recommended for general use in most European and North American locations, but if you suffer severe reactions from insect bites, or if you're travelling to more exotic locations where insect-bourne diseases such as malaria, dengue fever or West Nile Virus are present, adults should use Ben's 100 Safari Strength Insect Repellent for maximum protection.

Mosi Bands - Insect Repellent Bands with DEET

Mosi Bands can be worn on the wrists and/or the ankles and they can repel mosquitoes and other flying or biting insects for up to 100 hours. The active ingredients (a combination of DEET and Citriodiol) are micro-encapsulated onto the material and then activated by stretching the Mosi Band as it is applied.

For maximum effectiveness wear two pairs of Mosi Bands - one pair for your wrists and the other for your ankles. However, it should be remembered that they only give localised protection - around the wrists and ankles - so they should be combined with trousers and long-sleeved shirts (or a standard insect repellent on any exposed areas).

The Mosi Bands can be worn at all times, even when swimming, and there is no reduction in performance when they dry out again. They're also ideal for use in the evenings, when you can often be bitten around your ankles.

Design Go Travel Insect Repellent Bands can be worn discreetly on your wrists and ankles and they can repel mosquitoes and other flying or biting insects for up to 100 hours. The active ingredients (a combination of 90% DEET and 10% Citronella) are micro-encapsulated onto the material and then activated by stretching the Bug Guard as it is applied.

Don't get bitten - get Ben's!
