The Lapponia Motion Sickness Ear Plug is a unique device that was designed and developed to provide protection and relief from Motion Sickness.
One of the causes of Motion Sickness is sensory conflict between your eyes and the semi-circular canals inside your ear that detect motion. When you’re sitting in the back of a car, for example, your eyes tell you that you are stationary – the seat in front of you and the interior of the car is moving at the same rate as you so it appears to be stationary relative to you – but the semi-circular canals inside your ears detect the acceleration of the car and every bump, twist and turn of the road. This sensory conflict then leads to a feeling of nausea. One possible explanation for this is that the body thinks the sensory conflict or ‘hallucination’ is due to poisoning and hence the ‘cure’ is to make you feel nauseaous and then vomit to get rid of it.
The Lapponia Motion Sickness Ear Plug disrupts this chain of events by de-sensitising the inner ear’s ability to detect motion. It does this by acting as a valve and dampening the subtle changes in air pressure that the inner ear uses in part to detect motion. Typically, it would be placed inside the left ear canal five minutes before starting a journey and it would then remain there throughout.
The Lapponia Anti-Motion Sickness Ear Plug is supplied with a storage case, full instructions for use and two sets of pressure regulating mouth pieces so that it can be adjusted as required to either strong or light.
